We've been Knotty
This past weekend we wrapped up our second trip to Knott's Berry Farm amusement park for a food festival. With Coronavirus still lurking and the California government keeping businesses locked down, there are not many options for entertainment these days.
For those who may not be as familiar with Knott's, it is located just northwest of Disneyland in the city of Buena Park, CA on Beach Street. This is an all-ages park offering an array of entertainment choices from kiddie rides to large thrill-ride roller coasters. Normally there are stages shows, character meet and greets with the loveable characters of the Peanuts gang and they are famous for their fried chicken, specifically from the Mrs. Knott's Kitchen restaurant which is actually located outside of the park, so no ticket needed to eat there.
Knott's first food festival was called The Taste of Knott's and featured a wide ranging menu from seafood tacos, fried funnel cakes to bosenberry margarita's. The event was held inside the park, and cost $35.00 for adults. With your ticket, you received five items programmed into your ticket. Upon entry they activate your lanyard, take your photo which gets attached digitially and you're off to eat! Once you decide on what food to order, you scan your lanyard at the cashiers counter, the employee can see your photo to ensure it is you and they can also see, and usually tell you, how many items you have left on your lanyard.
We found this system to be fantastic! It was quick, easy to use and with the lanyard being around your neck, one less thing to carry while trying to pickup your food and walk it to a table.
Speaking of tables, they are a plenty right now! They have tables setup just about every where. Along pathways, in courtyards, doubled the normal seating areas and more. Not once did we find ourselves without a table. Now granted, we didn't always get a table we liked, there were a couple of times we had to sit at one that was in the sun, but still, being able to sit and eat is priceless as the day draws on.
As for the food, we found it to be enjoyable. They had a wide ranging selection and we felt the food quality was good. I forgot to mention, once you use up your five items on your lanyard, you CAN purchase more. We found that most items cost between $4-7, give or take and we also thought this was pretty good for most items.
The second event we went to was called the Fall-O-Ween Food Festival and they changed up the menu items on us and they were all Halloween or fall themed in some way. So you bet your boots there was several dishes featuring pumpkin or pumpkin spice! There were some returning favorites, such as the bosenberry beer, margarita's and wine. All of which were very tasty so no complaints there and both Marzz and I did have a second go round of those, even though we had tasted them just weeks prior.
In all we both enjoyed these events for many reasons. We found them to be well organized, reasonably priced and entertaining. The event ran from noon to 8pm or 9pm depending on the day, so you could have easily spent all day there. In my opinion, the $35.00 ticket price was reasonable for the amount of food and drink options that you had to choose from. Parking was free! The ease of parking, entering the park, ordering and recieving food were all fantastic. Coronavirus or not, I hope they continue these types of events and try to operate them in the same manner because the efficiency was great.
If you have an opportunity to visit Knott's Berry Farm before November 1, 2020, we highly recommend you try and attend this event. Good food, very clean and safe, mask policy in place and plenty of food and drink options. Yee Haw!!!
