Out of Luck But Still Winning
There is certainly some irony mixed into my current situation. Leaving an Irish pub for another company. The Irish of course known for luck and their land known to be green, yet I'm leaving for greener pastures; and in theory this would be un-lucky for the Irish aka Raglan.
Let me start by saying I am not leaving due to any ill will and I wish Raglan Road the upmost success and prosperity. My journy is continuing because I was offered another role, and not just for more money, but the environment seems to allign with what I am looking for, which is a better balance of hands-on work and office-type work.
On September 30, 2024 I will be starting a new position as "chief building manager" for Berman and my location will be the Lake Nona Town Center.
For those not familiar with Lake Nona, it is a fast-growing community just south of Orlando International Airport. It is technically in Orlando as Lake Nona is not officially a city of its own. But it has plenty to offer as it's known as the medical city because of its many medical research and care facilities are located there by some of the top companies in the world. It is quickly becoming known as a tech city, many up and coming technology companies are setting up shop there, from AI to flying electric vehicles. It's home to The Wave Hotel, one of the most technologically advanced hotels by their own claim. The Lake Nona Town Center is a quaint area comprised of retail shops, coffee shops, dining, and live entertainment. Boxi Park is a local favorite, a series of large shipping containers make-up the perimeter, and inside are several food and alcohol vendors. This area also includes a large outdoor stage for live music and events. All-in-all, Lake Nona is a great community and will only continue to grow over the coming years.
My role in all of this is to be seen, but my understanding is that I will have a hand in property management of the nearby mid-rise office and mixed use buildings in the area. These structures are quite large and can and do, house a large number of occupants and companies. I'm not new to property/facilities management, so I'm confident that I can apply my skills and knowledge to the roll. I'm excited to start a new adventure, and although I will miss Raglan, I believe this is the right path for me and I look forward to the ride. Ultimately I hope to discover a place where I can lay roots and stay for a while, maybe even retire from, of course that is far off, I have many years before that will become a reality, but until then, I hope this will be the start of that chapter.
I hope to provide updates in the future on this and I really hope they will be good ones. I don't really like bouncing around from company to company, but I just haven't found one in Florida that I am willing to settle down in yet, they've all lacked something thus far. But here's to the future, to hope, to possibilty. Cheers!
