Lights, Camera, YouTube!

It has been an interesting couple of years as you know from our blog and social media.  This past week, we were finally able to post some YouTube videos again on our channel, Nate and Marzz.

Part of this delay was due to not having a computer to do the editing.  It was a bold move, but I made the decision to purchase a new Apple iMac in order to continue our filming and editing.  I enjoy creating the videos.  Sometimes it can be difficult to film when we’re out for various reasons, sometimes I just feel like it’s in the way and I’d rather just enjoy the moment, sometimes it feels weird to film in places such as places of business.

It has felt good to post videos again.  The last video I had posted was us flying to Orlando back in November 2021!  This is funny for several reasons.  One, that was the trip where we found our house and went under contract, therefore, made the decision to relocate to Florida from California.  Then posting a video of us traveling and then not posting anything again for over two years is a bit funny.  I didn’t plan it that way.

Watching the footage from that trip has been fun and interesting.  Partly because although we obviously went house hunting and did some house things, we really didn’t put that into the videos, therefore, it’s almost like it was a secret.  So, watching us talk about Disney World, knowing then that we would live there soon, but speak like a person on vacation.

Fast-forward to present day where we’ve been living here for over two years, it has been great.  I’ve talked about this in detail on our blog, but I’m excited to share it via video on our channel.  I’m also excited about the potential for future videos and getting into the YouTube game.  I realize it is quite late, and who knows if or when that bubble will burst and become not profitable, but until then, I don’t see a downside to try and get into it.

Now I have no expectations.  I certainly don’t think this will be some money-making venture that will change our career path, but what I’m hoping is that it may provide a bit of supplemental income.  The more the merrier when it comes to money.

I’m comparing to others who seemingly do this full-time, or the majority of their time.  Now they obviously post to get views, and their channels have grown over a fairly long period of time.  This doesn’t mean there aren’t those who appear and grow faster and make money.  Basically, all possibilities are on the table.

The way I see it, Central Florida is still the vacation destination of the United States and arguably the world.  There are millions upon millions of people who visit here annually and many repeat visitors.  Combine that with the thousands of people, who like us, relocated here recently.  What this equates to is that there are tons of places and things that people would love to know more about.  Using YouTube to research a place or event is very common, so this just means that need is still there, so why not be a part of it and make a little money along the way.

Our YouTube channel doesn’t have enough subscribers to have it’s own unique url, but we’re getting close.  We’re at 81, I believe the goal is still 100, so only a few more to go.  Once we have that, then it’ll be easier for people to find us.  Also, the more views we acquire, the better chance we have of the YouTube algorithm picking us up so our videos are posted on people’s timelines as suggestions, or come up in the top “x” when someone searches for something.

Time will tell on whether this venture will be profitable or even fun.  We could decide it’s too much work or that it takes the fun out of things, or a plethora of other reasons why it won’t work out.  But like most things we do, I think we’ll give it a good go and the chances of us continuing, profitable or not, we’ll continue doing it because thus far, we’ve been doing it, off and on for a few years and have made zero dollars.

So why do I think it could be profitable now?  I just think we could produce more videos on topics and places that people want to watch because of living in Central Florida.  I’m not just saying theme parks either, there are tons of cool places here.  I think there is a hunger for more info about Central Florida, and Florida overall.  Now may be a great time to be producing videos about places to visit and things to do.

I’m proud to live here and I believe there are tons of amazing things and places to see that are interesting.  We have tons of state parks, outdoor activities, historical sites, theme parks, beaches, lakes, and on and on and on.  I’m excited to share these things with people, hope you join us for the adventure.  You can find us by searching for Nate and Marzz or links are on this site.
