We finally put our weddding invitations in the mail last night. We are way behind schedule, which I'm disappointed about because I feel we've done pretty well on just about everything else. For various reasons, these invitations have just taken a long time to get completed. But, alas, they are finished and in the hands of the United States Postal Service. I'm not sure if that makes me feel any better or not?
We had the invitations made from an Etsy store, the Origami Fox. They make invitations, stationary and more, check them out if you can, we think they do great work and were very easy to work with in doing custom orders. Here is their link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheOrigamiFox
Like I said, they made the process very easy and were able to accommodate our requests for changes/edits in text or adding QR codes etc. I would certainly use them again and we highly recommend them.
Between Marzz and I, we tried to add some special touches to the inviations that were very "us" as well as uniquely local. I won't give it away here, you'll have to watch our YouTube video(s) on our wedding once we post them and we'll give you all the insights; but just know, we definitely went out of way to make them a one-of-a-kind invitation for our guests.
If I was to guess, total hours invested in the invitations, counting the time editing the design working with The Origami Fox, combined between Marzz and myself, we probably spent 12-14 hours on them. Now that may not seem like a lot, but think of this, if we had simply bought some off-the-shelf invitations and wrote a name on the inside with an R.S.V.P. count and then addressed them, I bet we could have finished all of them in an hour and a half. But no, we had to be stuborn and do it our way, so it took a great deal longer. But we love them. We are very happy with how they turned out and if they can survive the trip through the mail, we think our guests will really enjoy them as well.
I will share this, we did choose to not do the traditional stamped envelope return deal for the R.S.V.P., and instead chose to do a QR code that you can scan which will take you to an online registation "event". Not only did this save a stamp and an envelope, but it gives us an answer in real-time. Which is also now helpful more than every since we're so late in sending these out. Originally we wanted thense to go out in July, which would have been ahead of most schedules, but then it pushed becuase we didn't decide on a design until much later. Then after that, it simply took a bit to design them and then have them made and shipped to us from the UK.
But having our guests register online will be great and hopefully easy for them as well. They can also decline on there too, so again, we'll get up-to-date information the second they submit it. That makes me think about our guest count and how it applies to the wedding cost.
Right now we're anxiously awaiting on our Disney wedding planner to get back to us with the cost of the wedding based on full attendance. We have already received our floral quote, so once we have this "wedding" quote, then we'll basically know how much we need for the wedding assuming everyone comes. The reason this all is stressful is because, I don't have the cash for this shin dig just sitting around, I'm going to have to finance it. But I can't do that until I know how much it's going to cost and I can't know that until I get her quote but also once we finalize the actual guest count, then I'll have a really good idea of the cost. That number could drop or increase up until 30 days prior to the wedding, but chances are it won't change. So getting the original quote from here and floral combined with an accurate guest count is paramount. Waiting is driving me nuts.
I'll stop there, I don't want to change topics nor do I want to rant right now. The invitations are in the mail and folks shouls start receiving them by end of this week or early next week which is exicting and the next big step for us in this process of planning a wedding with Disney.
