Disney Lands and Opening Date

Let me begin by saying thank you for tuning into, what is possibly the most inconsistent blog ever! When I began this several years ago, I had delusions of grandure. It takes a heck of a lot of time and effort to produce the content that I want and having said that, I still am not really up to the standards that I want if and when I do post something; so thank you to those who are bearing with us on this journey.

As of writing this, Disneyland CEO Bob Chapek has announced that Disney is eyeing an upening date of "end of April {2021}".

This is the first announcement of a reopening since July of 2020. It comes off the heels of California governor Newsom's recent announcement that counties may begin reopening large capacity venues such as sports, concerts and theme parks if they maintain the states standards of number of cases per "x" hundred thousand. I won't go into the details because I think they're moot, but just know, if you meet these statistics you can allow customers/guests at a maximum 25% capacity.

Staying on point, it is great to hear Disneyland is looking to reopen and Bob Chapek has stayed that course since the shut down. He is one of the few outspoken Disney executives who has championed for his employee's (AKA cast members) and has voiced his displeasure with both state and local governments on what he feels is an unfair, unjust and unfounded shut down. The reason I applaud this is simply because he is fighting for his business and his employees. Nevermind that his business is a billion dollar giant, to me that is irrelevant. It is simply nice to see him going to bat for them and that goes for any other person or business. It isn't about whether you agree with it or not, but the mere idea of questioning things and not just conforming and being led around like cattle to the slaugher house.

Disneyland is a place we all know and love, even if you've never been there before or if it was years since you last visited. It holds a special place in the hearts and minds of many people from all over the world for different reasons.

On a more quanifiable level, it hosts to tens of thousands of jobs for people in and around the city of Anaheim. These people are dependant on working for income, health insurance and retirement. I won't go into any tangents on the COVID relief or unemployment, but simply remind everyone, those are meant to be temporary suppliments. People need to work.

There are many proven health benefits that come with people working, mainly having a sense of purpose and also the social aspect of it. Long-term employees at Disneyland generally have a nitch as people pleasers and are customer focus oriented. These people especially thrive in environments where they interact with other people.

I applaud businesses and their teams who have made it work via web-based virtual meetings. Many have truly been innovative and come together to create these networks and systems and we should not take away from that.

There are many amazing stories and ideas that came out of this mess of a pandemic, we would generally call these the "silver lining" of the situation. There is a fine line between ignorance and being overly positive; but I do encourage the latter. Too much unneccesary negativity brings us all down, creates too much "noise" and is not productive.

I hope that Disneyland does open soon for the sake of the cast members employeed there, the guests who are getting cabin fever from the feeling of being trapped in their homes and for the surrounding businesses around the Disneyland area who have also taken a huge financial hit from all of this. I truly hope this is the beginning of something good, the beginning of putting this terrible situation behind us and the beginning of reopening America.

As usual, there isn't really a point to my blog, just sharing what I think is some long overdue, good news.

Have a wonderful day everyone!
