TIME

When I was a child, time seemed to be infinite. Weekends were mini-vacations, summer vacation from school was like a year, and driving down to Disneyland from Central California was like entire day. As I grow older, I view time very differently. My perception of time is that it goes by all too quickly and we’re just trying to keep up with it.

I don’t necessarily mean that in a cynical way, but I realize it may come off as such. There never seems to be enough time for the things you want, and all too much time for the things you dislike. But time has not changed. I have changed.

This past weekend marked one year that Marzz has been living in Florida. Granted, the beginning to her journey had her held up at an Extended Stay motel, but nevertheless, she was living here, along with our dog Miracle. At that same time, I was still living in our apartment in Burbank, CA, in fact, I was physically in Modesto, CA visiting friends and family, but also packing my belongings in Modesto. My buddy, Matt, and I hauled it down to Burbank where we proceeded to pack up all of the rest of Marzz and my stuff, with the help from my other friends, Alex, and Jorge.

Packing all of that feels like yesterday. I can still remember certain things that were said, done, and even the way I felt during those moments. But time has deceived me. It was not yesterday; it was a full year ago. Perception is such a powerful thing and plagues our minds on a daily basis. I understand much better why ancient philosophers dedicated their lives to ask questions about time, the universe, humans, and much more. Our time is precious, but often we take it for granted. Our own creations keep us moving forward, chasing the “next thing”, yet time just keeps moving on. Time is not prejudice against anyone; it just is. I know I’m getting a bit deep here, but it is something I do think about as I grow older, and I think it is good for all of us to think about for ourselves.

So much has happened in this years’ time, from spring of 2022 to now. I have shared much of it in our blogs and some in our vlogs (returning soon), but I was mainly our move and our new home, both of which were huge events for us.

It has been 6 months of us living in our new house and it has been everything we had hoped for. We love our house, the location, the backyard! We’re still getting settled as far as furniture and décor goes, but it’s coming along.

These past six months have flown by as well; it feels more like we’ve lived here a few weeks. I think part of that feeling is how quickly we’ve acclimated to our new area. We are able to drive around to most places without the use of GPS. We sort of have our go-to grocery store and gas station, things that just help you feel settled and provides you with that feeling of consistency and home.

In six months, we have purchased a new bed and bed frame, living room sofa, chair, mini bar, and side table. New light fixtures for my office and the dining room. Built cabinets for my office and our laundry room, with more on the way. In hindsight, that is a lot to have accomplished in a relatively short amount of time. Keeping in mind that we also got through Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.

I’m happy that our first six months have passed so smoothly, and we feel good about our situation. In fact, we’re both very optimistic about the future, and cannot wait for what is to come. Even though the time has flown by, or at least that is our perception of it, I wouldn’t have done it any other way. If the next six months pass just as quickly, it only means we’re busy, and living life. Live is a gift, and we should try and live it to its fullest. That doesn’t mean every day you can travel, or dine at over the top locations, but take in the little things, be appreciative of people in your life, and get rid of people who aren’t good for you; you do not need them. We can always work on something to continue to improve ourselves, but as we grow, and get better, make sure we acknowledge it. For some, time goes by quickly, but they forget to live, or take too long to improve, and get stuck in a rut. If you see someone struggling, try and help them, even if that just means pointing them in the right direction.

Regardless of what we do with our lives, or how fast or slow it seems to be going, one certainty remains, and that is time will run out for all of us some day. Generally, you don’t get to choose when that is, so when it comes, hopefully you have a clear conscience, and in a sense, are ready for it; whatever that means for you.

Thanks for reading, and taking the TIME, but the time for this blog has come…end.
