Bug Out!

In case you missed it, Disney announced recently that A Bug's Land in Disney California Adventure Park will be closing permanently this summer. It will be replaced with a Marvel themed land. The "It's Tough to be a Bug" 3-D theater attraction has already closed its doors.

Adding a Marvel land has been in the rumor mill for a long while now, so it is really no surprise that Disney is adding it to its parks. With the enormous success of their feature films, television series and of course the long running source of it all, the comic books, it seems like the next logical step to incorporate Marvel and it's seemingly endless number of hero's and villains into the parks.

For anyone not paying attention, they've been adding Marvel slowly via their character interaction and trailer previews at Stage 17. Combined with the merchandise available both in the parks and their retail Disney Store chains, we've already been prepped for this and now it's time for the full implementation.

I have to imagine that A Bug's Land attendance was low any how, even for a target audience of 10 years old and under. What exactly will replace it has not been revealed in any detail, so stay tuned for more details to come.

I will miss the clever themes and detail of A Bug's Land, but beyond that, I think it will pass into distant memory among other forgot Disney attractions like the Rocket Rods, the Mule Pack attraction, the Skyway, America Sings or America Sings.
