Annual Pass Statistics
Me and my girlfriend purchased our Disneyland annual passes in August 2017, so we're about 7 months in to our year. We've had a great time thus far (no surprise there), but we've also felt that we have got the most from it in terms of value for our money.
The reason we waited so long to purchase annual passes, we got the Signature pass by the way, is of course the price point. When we purchased them, they were $850/person and as of February 2018, that same pass is not $999! We do the monthly payments, which hopefully rumors are wrong and Disney does not get rid of the payment plan, but that's just rumor and a blog for another time. But we finally had enough money to make the monthly payments which are $62.50/person/month.
Since getting our passes I began tracking some statistics that I wanted to know about, such as how often would we go to the park and how long would we stay each visit? I enjoy data analysis so this was right up my alley. I have since thought of other things that I wish I would have tracked but since I didn't from the beginning, I decided I'll wait until next year...assuming we renew our passes.
Here is a look at some of the things I've tracked up to this point:
We have visited the parks (either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure or both) a total of 26 times, which averages 3.7 times per month, almost once a week!
We've logged a total of 173.25 hours in the parks, which comes out to roughly 6.5 hours on average per visit.
If we have paid for each visit, assuming $20 each time we parked per visit and if we only went to one park I counted that as purchasing a single day, single park ticket; but if we went to both then I counted that as a single day park hopper ticket. So after 26 visits, we would have spent $8,080.00! Which helps justify the passes which were $1,700.00 for both of us.
For visiting just Disneyland, we average about 5 attractions per visit.
Our goal is to ride every single attraction at least once during our year period, and we are getting very close.
Thus far, the savings we've received from our annual passes, meaning the 10%, 15% or 20% discounts that we get depending on the location or item(s), we have saved a total of $141.34.
These are just some of them, I will post updates more coming soon, perhaps delve into new categories or update on some of these ones. I just use a spreadsheet for this and I have uploaded it to Google Sheets so I can access it on my phone from anywhere. I also keep all receipts from everything we purchase, or I've recently began taking a picture of the receipts in case I lost it or it gets damaged.
As always, thanks for checking in on my adventures! Come back soon for more updates.
